Virtual Program: All About Charcuterie

November 17, 2020

This virtual program will be held via Zoom. Once you have registered, you will receive an email link to the program.

Creating and posting about charcuterie boards on social media is a growing trend, especially as more people are cooking at home during the COVID-19 pandemic. According to businessinsider.com, a search for “charcuterie” on Instagram yields nearly one million results, and on Facebook there are hundreds of public and private groups dedicated to the art form.

Becki Melvie, owner of The Abundant Kitchen, will help us to explore this trend by demonstrating her ten-step detailed instruction on how to construct a charcuterie tray. Her demonstration will include how to incorporate fresh herbs, choosing the correct sized board, what utensils to have available, and how to vary the colors, textures and tastes to create the perfect charcuterie board! Becki will also speak about the history of charcuterie.

Speaker:

Becki Melvie is small business owner, chef, cooking class instructor, wife and mom of two active boys. She trained at Ballymaloe Cookery School in Cork Co., Ireland situated on an 100-acre organic farm. Her past and present work experience ranges from running her boutique cooking school and retail shop, a seasonal pop-up crepe stand, the kitchen at Whole Foods, to Brand Ambassador for a woman-owned start-up, Taking Stock Foods. Becki volunteers annually at Garlic Fest and at her favorite CSA Farm, Sweet Beet Farm. Becki has extensively travelled the world and loves to bring her food experiences home to share with others. Her personal mission statement is to help families have wholesome food with convenience. Becki lives in Buffalo, MN with her husband and two children.
